Duck Declares for Mayor!

Daffy Full WhoLongtime Ottawa celebrity, philanthropist and community activist Darrel ‘Daffy’ Duck today announced he will run for Mayor in Ottawa in the coming Municipal Elections.

“I’ve dedicated myself and my personal fortune, as a concerned citizen, to the well being and contentment of the residents of Dow’s Lake and the Central Experimental Farm for more than 30 years,” Duck proudly states. “Now, it’s time go pro!”

Duck is, basically, mad as Hell about the state of City affairs, and he’s not going to take it any longer.

After retiring from an internationally acclaimed career in show business, Duck returned to his familial roots here in Ottawa to dedicate his time and considerable energies to the benefit of his fellow citizens. He has been a shadow presence at City Hall for the past 27 years, following the fortunes of his beloved home town and representing a variety of community interests before various City Council Committees.

“It’s time for a common sense revolution at City Hall,” Duck told supporters this morning, outside his sprawling Dow’s Lake home. “Ottawans have been waiting too long for a Mayor who will take taxes by the horns and wrestle the bureaucracy to its expensively-tailored knees. I’ll fill the potholes with Depleted Uranium if that’s what it takes to fill ‘em once and for all! If we have to have the O Train, I’ll spearhead a creative deal with the Museum of Science and Tech to get those old locomotives of theirs out of mothballs, saving the city millions! And that’s just the beginning!”

“As the unofficial Councilor for Dow’s Lake, I have made it my duty to speak up for all the oppressed little (non-)people whose voices would otherwise not be heard at City Hall,” Duck declares.

Duck says he looks forward to participating in the remaining Mayoralty Campaign Debates and has promised, in advance, not to disrupt the proceedings with any out-of-control, zany behaviour.
